Industry News-y News for August 22nd – 28th

By August 28, 2016Cinema History

20th Century Fox TV and Robert Zemeckis’ ImageMovers sells two-time Black Lister, Daniel Kunka’s THE ARK to NBC. It’s a modern retelling of the Noah’s Ark bible story. Per Deadline: “It centers on an engineer who, after the death of his wife, has a vision to construct a ship capable of sustaining life in space. When the build happens to coincide with the coming end of the world, the engineer realizes there may be a larger story at play.” We’ve seen Kunka a lot these last few years on the spec market – “The Battle of New Orleans” (sold to Endurance Media), “Yellowstone Falls” (sold to Covert Media), and “Bermuda Triangle” (sold to Warners).

In other news… um… do you really want to know?

There’s this:

The Charles Dickens’ A CHRISTMAS CAROL classic will get the in vogue gender-bender treatment with SCROOGETTE (the name, WTF?) to be produced by Myriad Pictures.

Some other stuff happened, but after the SCROOGETTE thing you kind of put blinders on for the rest of the week…
