The Secret Writing Team Behind Trump’s Campaign

By October 10, 2016Cinema History

This article isn’t meant to bash Trump. I simply have uncovered – by total accident – one of the secret writing teams of the Republican Candidate. Before I mention who this “secret team” is, let’s recap one of the memorable moments of yesterday’s duel. When Trump said to Hillary:

“If I win I am going to instruct my attorney to get a special prosecutor to look in your situation.”

When Hillary said it was “awfully good” that someone with the temperament of Trump was not in charge of the country, Trump said, “because you’d be in jail.”

I perked up at this moment because of how familiar that sounded. It turns out, the screenplay I was studying this weekend (this is how exciting my life is, I break down screenplays for fun) happened to be “Citizen Kane.”

Trump apparently considers “Citizen Kane” one of his favorite movies. During the only political debate in the film, Charles Foster Kane makes a grandiose speech that ends like so:

“My first official act of Governor will be to appoint a special District Attorney to arrange for the indictment, prosecution and conviction of Boss Jim Gittes!”

Only two scenes later, Gittes says:

“If I didn’t like the way somebody else – some politician say – I’d fight them with everything I had. Only I wouldn’t show him in a convict suit, with stripes – so his children could see the pictures in the paper.”

Anyway, you get the point. Herman J.Mankiewitcz & Orson Welles is one of the “secret writing teams” working for Trump. You can’t blame him. It’s the “greatest film ever made.” And Trump is the greatest billionaire ever made. Running to control the greatest country ever made.
